Kathleen Nelson

I am a leadership and career coach specializing in those wishing to succeed in academic medical careers. I will help you identify your personal strengths and realistic as well as stretch goals and your strategy for success as you ascend the academic ladder or tackle your leadership journey. I spent the first 40 years of my career as an academic medicine physician/leader serving as Professor of Pediatrics, Division Chief and Department Vice Chair and Sr. Associate Dean for more than 20 years at two medical schools in the South and West. I was the co-director of Healthcare Leadership Academies at both medical schools and trained as an ICF coach. I retired from my academic positions in 2021 and have been working as a leadership/career coach and consultant since then. I use coaching to help individuals recognize and effectively use their strengths to reach their career and leadership goals. I feel that I am particularly effective working with women faculty members and with those faculty who have recently been put into new leadership positions or who have a new leader to report to eg Dean, Department Chair, Hospital CEO in their academic health center.
