About Mel
As an executive leader, you're no stranger to endless demands, the constant push to excel, and curveballs that leave you constantly reprioritizing or take you off course. And you're great at what you do! Still, it's easy to end your day silently wondering if you're doing enough - at work and at home. I know the feeling.
I founded Breakthrough Coaching, a boutique firm specializing in executive & leadership coaching. With a mission to empower leaders to build a thriving career and fulfilling life, I help my clients master change and unanticipated challenges so they stop wasting time and energy, get things done faster, and live a life with no regrets. My work helps leaders build increased confidence in decision-making and managing conflict, develop improved trust in relationships, and lead changes in their organization, role, and life. I support them through a process to gain deeper self-awareness, set clear growth goals, and take action to integrate new skills into daily life by addressing roadblocks standing in their way. I coach clients to empower themselves and those around them to learn, grow and evolve together.
I'm not just a coach - I'm a partner who has been in your shoes. There was a pivotal moment in my career when everything seemed to come to a screeching halt. As a corporate HR executive managing demanding, high-pressure work, I thrived in a fast-paced environment and loved solving so many exciting and important challenges. But then, I learned I had a chronic illness. I didn’t know where to go or what to do – personally and professionally - and I didn’t want to disappoint anyone. However, I had to acknowledge and face a new reality, So, I rebuilt my career and life in alignment with my new priorities and what success looks like now. My experiences now shape my work with leaders.
With over two decades of talent strategy and consulting experience in Fortune 200 companies, I have advised and coached a variety of executives, leaders, and professionals in diverse industries. I received an MBA in Organization Development from The Johns Hopkins University and a BBA in Management from Western Michigan University. I will be a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) from The Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) in February 2025 and am a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). In addition to my experiences and education, I am also certified in various diagnostic tools.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my partner Justin, daughter Avery, and dog Reggie. I love reading, hiking, and traveling and am always open to adventure and a laugh.
