About Kristin
Hi all! I just wanted to introduce myself and share Hi everyone!
My name is Kristin Her I’m a mom of seven — six girls and one boy — and yes, I said seven!
I get my fun last name from my husband, who is of Asian descent. I’ve learned to have some fun with it — you’ll often hear me say things like “Her Kitchen,” “Her Family,” or “Elevate with Her.” And because we’re a blended family, I like to think of us as the International Brady Bunch — for those younger moms here, that was a classic show about a big blended family way before reality TV made it cool. 😎
My Background and the Turning Point
Before I stepped into Parent Coaching, I spent 15 years working for Child Protective Services — and I say with pride and humor: I survived! 🤪
That career taught me so much. I witnessed firsthand that raising a family isn’t easy — and none of us get it right all the time. What I saw most was that parents need support, understanding, and kindness. I saw amazing parents who were simply exhausted and overwhelmed.
Then COVID hit, and I saw the mental health crisis explode — especially among our youth. Kids were struggling with isolation, anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation. But what really hit me was this: it wasn’t just the kids who were struggling. Parents were, too.
We get triggered, we yell, we lose our patience — and then we feel guilty. If you’ve never yelled at your kid, well… you might not be human! 👽Parenting is one long ride on the learning train, and that train 🚞 doesn’t stop when our kids turn 18.
What I Saw — and Why Change Is Needed
In my time at CPS, I worked with so many families whose pre-teens and teens were admitted to behavioral hospitals. While the kids were getting treatment, the parents often felt lost, unsupported, and even blamed.
But here’s the truth: lasting change doesn’t happen in isolation. You can’t just “fix” a child and send them home to the same environment. If the family doesn’t grow, heal, and learn alongside that child, the same patterns repeat — and I watched that heartbreaking cycle over and over.
That realization planted the seed for what would become Elevate with Her Coaching. I knew I wanted to help families break that cycle.
A Personal Chapter: My Family’s Story
Now, let me bring this closer to home. My oldest daughter — my beautiful, strong warrior — has been battling severe health conditions for over a decade. She’s now 29, but she first got sick at 17. She’s been diagnosed with gastroparesis, celiac disease, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, POTS, May-Thurner, and Nutcracker Syndrome. She’s had an auto transplant and now has two kidneys on one side.
She’s fought through feeding tubes, ports, malnutrition, and more hospital stays than I can count. Recently, she was admitted to ACUTE in Denver for what they labeled Anorexia – binge/purge subtype. But in her case, it wasn’t about body image — it was about her physical body rejecting food. She rejects that diagnosis, and honestly, I get it.
Despite everything, her resilience amazes me. I joke with her that she’s like a video game 🕹️ 🥠 👾 🟡 👻 character who keeps gaining extra lives. Every time she pulls through, I remind her that God isn’t finished with her yet. This past weekend, we almost lost her again — and she gained yet another “life.”
That experience taught me something powerful: be present. Moms and dads, please 🙏— be present with your kids. We never thought we’d be the family fighting for our child’s life every day. But here we are — and every moment matters.
More of Our Family Story: The Twins
I also have a set of twin in Minnesota, both diagnosed with Autism. One lives with her mom, and the other who is a boy (who’s more severely impacted) lives in a fantastic group home. We visit as often as we can, and even when we love them from a distance, they know they are loved.
Through all of this — the career, the chaos, the kids, the hospitals — I’ve learned one thing: Compassion matters. Compassion for others, and Compassion for ourselves.
Faith and Foundation
If it weren’t for my faith in Jesus and my incredibly supportive husband, I’m not sure I’d still be standing. My faith has anchored me when life made no sense, and it’s given me the strength to help others through their storms, too.
Why Elevate with Her Exists
So that’s why I founded Elevate with Her Coaching.
“Elevate” is about rising above — not pretending life is perfect, but learning to respond rather than react. I use my platform on Facebook and Instagram to share hope, humor, and practical tools that help families reconnect.
I hold a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and I’m a Certified Life Coach, but what really qualifies me is LIFE itself. I work with parents who feel stuck — who love their kids deeply but need new skills and fresh perspectives.
I help them rebuild connection, strengthen communication, and rediscover joy in parenting. Because when parents grow, kids thrive.
At the end of the day, we model everything for our children. So the best gift we can give them is to keep growing ourselves.
Heartfelt Invitation
Thank you for listening to my story. My hope is that something in it encourages you — maybe to give yourself more grace, to reach out for support, or to slow down and truly connect with your kids.
Parenting is hard. But you’re not alone.
Together, we can elevate — with grace, with faith, and with Her.
