About Telma

14 years ago when I was struggling with overeating. I had been divorced for a couple of years and was working full time while raising my son. My life was a mess. All my family was in Brazil (where I am from, born and raised), and I was here in the U.S. all by myself with a toddler.

My stress level was constantly off the charts and my emotions were so raw and intense. My comfort was just sitting in front of the TV, watching a movie and stuffing myself with popcorn, soda and ice cream.

I knew that what I was doing was not good for me and my health. Not to mention the weight I was gaining with my eating habits. But I just could not stop. I could not find or think of another way to feel better. In fact, I didn’t want to do anything…until something really scary happened! I was diagnosed with prediabetes.

That scare was what pushed me to do something! I thought about my son and how I needed to be there and healthy for him, to help him reach milestones and grow. I needed to be a part of his life, be there for him in his failures and success.

But where would I start? Ok, I knew I had to eliminate the killer trio - popcorn, ice cream and soda. But how? They were my go to comfort! How could I resist that craving? Willpower? Not buying them anymore? I soon discovered these were NOT the way to go. Is following a diet the best solution?

I would toggle between dieting and binging although I would never use the word binge to describe what I was doing because that word is scary but looking back that’s what I was doing. I would be so good all week and then the weekend would hit and bam… I’d binge.

In my mind I was like, "it’s ok, it’s the weekend". But then I would feel so guilty for not being able to control myself. I thought that because I was on a diet and being good all week, a little indulgence on the weekends wouldn’t be a problem.

And if I’m being totally honest, I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t lose weight. In fact, I felt frustrated, unmotivated, and perplexed by the fact that even though I was an ambitious, smart, successful and a go-getter kind of woman, I couldn’t figure out how to lose weight and keep it off. ⁣⁣And that was holding me back from having joy and living my life to the fullest.

What I didn't know then is that losing weight is not all about the foods you eat. There is so much more to it than just eating healthy. It involves so many aspects such as lifestyle, mind & body connection, daily habits and so much more. That understanding was my turning point and the key to achieving optimal health.

Now, I make it my mission to help & guide women through a transformational journey to discover their own solutions and the changes they want to make to achieve their health goals and live optimally every day.
