Steven Sutton

I am an experienced senior leader and qualified leadership coach with more than 40 years of professional experience across construction, property, higher education, local government and complex multi-site organisations.

My coaching is focused on experienced professionals and leaders who are navigating change, uncertainty or a significant transition in their working lives. This might include developing confidence and influence, dealing with competing priorities, thinking through difficult decisions, changing direction professionally, or considering what the next chapter of a career or life might look like.

I bring a combination of formal coaching training and substantial real-world leadership experience. I completed an Advanced Certificate in Executive Coaching through HumanTechnics, with the postgraduate award associated with the University of the West of England, Bristol Business School. The programme was accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) as a CCE programme. I am an ICF member and have undertaken more than 100 hours of formal coaching practice.

I have worked extensively with senior colleagues, professional teams and Boards, often where information is incomplete, priorities compete and decisions have significant consequences.

My coaching style is supportive, reflective and appropriately challenging. I believe good coaching is not about providing someone with the answer; it is about creating the space to think clearly, explore assumptions, recognise what really matters and make decisions with greater confidence and ownership.

I particularly enjoy working with people at points of transition — helping them make sense of where they are, where they might want to go next, and what a fulfilling next chapter could look like.
