Michael Lin

My focus is heritage coaching for Asian/Asian American leaders: for those seeking to honor and integrate their cultural heritage while advancing in a western context.

I know first hand how challenging it can be to navigate the complexity of growing up with both a native and adopted culture. I seek to help those not wanting to give up one set of values for another, and to help them find balance, clarity, and effectiveness navigating cultural differences.

In addition to understanding my own cultural identity, I'm sensitive to how gender, socioeconomic status, and other aspects of identity can affect how we show up and interact with others at work and in our communities.

I've developed many programs for this topic as a leader/founder in various Asian Employee Resource Groups for the last decade. For example:

- Founded and ran the Asian Executive Coaching Program at Google for 3 years
- Chair for Professional Development Committee at Google's ERG
- Founder of cross-company Asian Employee Resource Group at Waymo & Alphabet, launching the first mentorship program
- Trainer for Inaugural Asian Career Circles with the Stanford Business School Asian Alum Association

I complement this experience with my background as a PeopleOps leader and a facilitator for Stanford's MBA course on Interpersonal Dynamics. I graduated with Psychology and Chinese majors from U.C. Berkeley, and a M.S. in Management from Stanford.
