Before I became an Executive and personal development coach, I started as an athletics coach. I coached boys and girls soccer for 6+ years, and in that time, I learned a lot about various coaching styles and approaches. One of the main takeaways I learned in my coaching credential classes is that you can't perform tactically; what you can't do technically. In layman's terms, you can't perform well on the field if you don't grasp and understand the basic skills.

For 20+ years, I have worked on various IT teams as an individual contributor and in a leadership/management capacity. Before starting my stint coaching soccer, I worked with and led my teams in the same static and systematic way. During my 6+ years of coaching soccer, I worked in professional teams while simultaneously completing various athletic coaching training levels. As I applied my coaching knowledge to my players during practices and matches, I experienced a "lightbulb thought." What if I took the coaching skills I have used with my players and applied them to my team and co-workers in a professional business environment?

As I did while coaching soccer, I took on the challenge of earning my various professional coaching degrees and certifications. I was driven (and still am) by the notion that I would credibly coach and develop individuals and teams in the same coaching philosophy: you can't perform tactically; what you can't do technically.
